Bottle.Media was tasked with creating a promo video for one of their long-time clients, SolidWorks. This well-known CAD design program specializes in making innovation easier and faster for the creative community. Bottle.Media came to Lockhouse to get the creative support to push the envelope and produce a video that resonated with the makers using this software to bring new ideas to life.
This video shoot required an oversized set piece and specialized filming challenges to capture live-action manufacturing. Bottle.Media partnered with Lockhouse to have the studio, gear and community connections needed to bring their vision to life.
The Vision
Bottle.Media knew they needed a creative angle to make a CAD software video engaging and interesting for viewers. The solution was to showcase the variety of makers who use SolidWorks and emphasize the physical products brought to life through the software. By connecting real people and real products to the CAD program, the video becomes relatable and better converts viewers into customers because they literally see the endless, innovative possibilities.
To pull this off, Bottle.Media had big ideas that required big solutions for this promo video. The largest hurdle, literally, was sourcing an oversized, motorized turntable capable of supporting full set pieces and talent. And because the primary focus was products being manufactured, they wanted to film live welding on camera.
These were two major challenges that are exactly what Lockhouse excels in solving as part of the commercial video production process. When it involves pushing creative boundaries and planning content that truly impresses and inspires, Lockhouse jumps right in!

The Final Product

The straightforward part was providing Bottle.Media with a fully equipped studio space that offered a blank canvas that could quickly transform with background light color washes. With a complex promo video production, it’s easy for foundational details to be overlooked – Lockhouse gives you the peace of mind you’ll always have what you need.
The large-scale, motorized turntable was not your standard set item. One advantage of partnering with Lockhouse is our widespread network of vendors that assist in bringing ambitious ideas to fruition. We were able to connect with Tall Pines Studio for the turntable large enough to display full sets and talent. This allowed for creative filming using various speeds for a more dynamic and engaging promo video.
Another element of this video shoot was to safely film live welding. This certainly created an opportunity for interesting content but posed some safety considerations. Lockhouse worked closely with Bottle.Media to prep and execute a safe environment on set to capture welding in action.
This project was a great example of a core value for Lockhouse Studios – we are better together. Collaborating with fellow creative professionals allows for stronger innovation and higher caliber media content as a result.
